Is your laptop battery draining too fast? Windows has a hidden command that lets you see the true health of your battery — no apps needed!

YouTube Tutorial: Check Battery Health with CMD – powercfg /batteryreport

🔹 Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open Command Prompt as Administrator

Press Windows Key + S, type cmd, right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator.

Step 2: Generate the Battery Report

powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\Users\%username%\Downloads\MyBatteryHealth.html"

Hit Enter — Windows will instantly create a full battery report saved in your Downloads folder.

Step 3: Open the Report

Go to Downloads → double-click MyBatteryHealth.html → it opens in your browser. Inside, you’ll find:

  • Design Capacity: the battery’s original full capacity
  • Full Charge Capacity: your current real capacity
  • Cycle Count: how many charge/discharge cycles completed

If your Full Charge Capacity is much lower than Design Capacity, your battery has worn out.

🧮 Check Battery Health Online

You can calculate your battery’s health automatically using our Battery Health Calculator:

📊 Battery Health Example

Example from a real report:

Date Full Charge Capacity Design Capacity Health
2025-11-04 65,890 mWh 75,000 mWh 87.9% (Good)

📚 Summary

  • 90–100% → Excellent
  • 80–89% → Good (minor wear)
  • 60–79% → Fair (noticeable decline)
  • <60% → Poor (consider replacement)

Keep your laptop battery healthy — avoid overcharging, use balanced power mode, and unplug once it reaches 100%.
